Okay so you're still recovering from peak charger "sticker shock". And as a result aren’t quite ready to willingly shell out $100, $200 (or more) for a peak battery charger.Besides, you’ve heard good things about two hot contenders in the budget class:

Seems both are vying to be top dog in the low budget category.
Both work good enough - for some.
Both have their passionate supporters. Both also have more than their fair share of those who would advise you to avoid them at all costs.
Yet burning question of the day is "Can YOU really find happiness with a peak charger for under $50?"
Piranha Peak Charger
Well, the DuraTrax Piranha is an AC/DC digital peak charger. It's capable of handling both NiCd/NiMH batteries. 100% digital it display's all of your batteries’ info. SuperBrain Peak Charger
The other contender, the MRC Superbrain 959, is an adjustable rate fast charger. It can handle up to eight cells. The Superbrain is smaller and lighter than the Piranha. It also works with both AC and DC and has a nice assortment of so called "advanced" features. Many budget minded back yard racers use it daily with no complaints because for them it gets the job done. The biggest complaint? A tendency to overheat.For more info here’s a Superbrain review

Finally a fellow electric rc cars enthusiast who has used BOTH chargers shares the good, the bad and the ugly from his experience. It’s semi unbiased. By the way, there is a third option - the Vision Peak charger. But try as I might, I could not find anything near an independent review for this one. So for that reason for now I’ll just mention it as another possibility, okay?Can you find true happiness with a budget peak charger? Dunno. Many do. But if YOU do depends on your needs, expectations and what your wallet says you have to live with.
