As I've mentioned before gas powered RC cars are great fun as long as you take care of that motor.

6) Would it kill you to make sure you've got a clean and oiled and properly installed air filter in place? I hope not. It will keep dirt out of your engine. 7) It's a good idea to ALWAYS run your gas powered rc cars a little on the rich side. As opposed to on the ragged edge. Even though it may be true that the leaner you run the faster it goes, the engine will also run hotter. Earth to driver: Excessive heat is the death of gas powered rc cars engines. (You getting this?) |
8) Long engine life also depends on the fuel. Avoid using a fuel with a low oil content if you want your engine to last. Racing fuels typically have a low oil percentage (around 8-12%) yet it's these very same oils that carry heat away from the engine in the exhaust. Rule of thumb: More oil.... longer life due to cooler running.
9) Don't overheat the engine. I know. I know. I keep repeating this and you're probably sick of it. But it's important.
Religiously follow these tips and most any gas powered rc cars or trucks will give you hours of fun between engine overhauls.
