The Best HPI Micro RS4 Motor ModIf you’re hungering for your HPI Micro RS4 to go seriously fast then the first three things you want to consider modding arethe motor, the motor, and the motor - in no particular order. <wink> Your two top motor mod choices? Either get your hands on a Watt-age 370 BIG BLOCK. Or you could go with what’s known on the street as a Speed 300. (Technically the Speed 300 is a Graupner Speed 300.) Regardless these are the current speed burners of choice HPI Micro RS4 owners. While you can’t go wrong with either choice, the 370 BIG BLOCK motor is probably the best value going right now. Best way to put it is it’s a hell raiser of an engine! You’ll find it holds it’s own as far as performance and life span. Comparing favorably to the Speed 300, the Peak Chubby or even the Team Orion (TO) Big Block. In fact here’s a surprise. Were you to take a peek under the sticker for any of those, you’d discover each has the exact same model number from China’s Mabuchi Motors stamped on it. But just because you’d decided on which motor mod doesn’t mean you’re done yet. You’ve got to mount the sucker. Given enough time, and assuming you’re handy with a dremmel, sure, you CAN mount that bigger power plant in your Micro RS4 with but a bit of effort. But frankly that’s more work than fun. Instead you probably want to go with a conversion kit that includes a motor plate that’s up to the task. You can get all that here or here. And save all that dermmeling for another day. With the motor issue taken care of, next up in the more speed department? Upgrade your power supply. Click here for a tip or two on the best battery packs felt to make for the most speed.
