How micro remote control cars get longer run times

Micro remote control cars offer one huge advantage over their supersized 1/10 electric cousins. Dude, you don’t have long down times to recharge the batteries.

Still you still gotta juice ‘em up some time.

Luckily it’s simple. Just stick any Bit Char-g remote control cars on the transmitter, hang out for 45 seconds, and it’s show time all over again.

It’s pretty cool how much power you can get into such a small package so quickly.
Pit Tip: Here’s a trick to really goose the run time of your remote control cars. Charge ‘em multiple times. Yeah just charge your remote control car as normal, pull it off the charger, put it back on and it will charge all over again. But don’t got wild with this and charge it like 13 times or something. That might be fatal - to the battery. Two or three times should be more than enough.
Still even with that tip the most common mod for these tiny remote control cars is to upgrade the battery.

Why? Extended runtimes, silly.

You see stock remote control cars like Bit char-gs or Microsizers come with a NiCad battery.

But go with a NiMH battery and it’s not uncommon to stretch that typical 4 minute run time to OVER 15 to 20 minutes or longer. At least according to the anecdotal evidence that is!

Since these 100mAh NiMH batteries cost just three bucks or less each why not?

Just remember the bigger the motor the more juice it takes and the shorter run times you’ll get.
Pit Tip: Now it’s critical you go by physical size when looking for an upgrade batter. To fit into any Bit remote control cars it has to be no bigger than 10mm in diameter by 16mm long (or tall) In other words the short and stubby ones. NOT the long ones.
An added bonus? NiMH batteries don’t seem to have the memory problems that typically plague stock NiCad batteries. Plus they seem to accept multi-charging better. (Naturally your mileage may vary.)

If you like here’s two online sources Battery Depot Online and TNR Technical

Or find a Batteries Plus. They’re a retail chain you might have locally and save the shipping.

This mod is pretty simple mods go. You can go here and get all the details. Then in no time your Bit Char-g remote control cars will be enjoying super long run times too.
