Hold Your Micro RC Cars On the Track

So we decided when driving micro RC cars holding onto a greased pig may be easier than holding your Bit Char-g or Microsizer on the road.

Still with a little practice you’ll discover you can sluice your way through the corners with the best of them.

Besides tearing up the track with a micro car hell-bent on self destruction can be fun.

Not to mention quite entertaining for anyone willing to watch. Putting on enough of a show so that even onlooking dogs smile. As you struggle to learn when to turn it loose and when to cut the throttle entirely.

Yet there are things you can do besides practice. Yeah what I’m suggesting is to reign in that uncontrolled need for speed in other ways besides through the throttle.

Shift Down the Motor

For one it’s smart when first starting out with the Bit Char-gs/Microsizers or other micro rc cars to go with the slowest motor you’ve got. Stick with that until you think you’ve got the hang of it.

Gear Down

Another idea? Go ahead and go for the gusto. Start with a faster engine but simply change the gearing.
The idea would be to start out with the 12:1 gears. This gearing set up blasts you to whatever top speed the motor offers the fastest. But since it’s 12:1 it is the slowest top end speed you can achieve. In other words that 12:1 gearing gives you the most control as it’s the slowest set up possible.

Weigh it Down

Then you could also add weight. Giving your Bit more weight to haul around might slow it down a bit.

For that reason many feel the 2.2 or 2.6 motor is your best bet.

It’s fast but not too fast.

It also gives you some heft to haul. Perhaps providing the best combo of speed and handling. (using the term "handling" loosely naturally since you really have none.)

The thinking being you’re on the edge but not over it. Still able to steer but not totally out of control.

Use Grippy Tires to Hold it Down

There’s one other equipment trick in our steering bag of tricks. Grippy tired. Grippy tires can help keep micro rc cars on the track.

Which to use is open to debate.

Many feel the tires that come as original equipment with your Bit Charg are the stickiest.

But don’t let that stop you. Yeah don’t hesitate to experiment with either of the replacement sets available.

Got it? Or course maybe you’re ready for some advanced driving tips? You know that are supposed to "take you to the next level"?

In any case you’ll find Bits come with a built in fun-to-drive personality. Even if they seem to perversely enjoy taking headers off the track. Apply these equipment changes and your time behind the wheel of any of careening micro rc cars will be filled with thrills and spills! And maybe just a bit of control.
