Review HPI MT2

The HPI Nitro MT2 is a much improved version of the original MT. This plucky ready-to-run has what you’d ever want in a race worthy stadium truck you can also take off road.

For starters the MT 2 has a tough shaft drive. Shaft drive ignore rocks and stones that can pop up in any off-road driving environment and jam a belt.

With the update, HPI added stronger gears, larger dogbones and a slipper clutch for extra protection! While a brake fade resistant fiberglass disk brake was added for better stopping power.
The truck is built on a 2.5mm thick purple anodized aluminum chassis. A new molded plastic gear guard protects the spur gear from rocks. More examples of the pains HPI took to boost durability so you have less down time and more driving time!

The popular 2.5T motor features the predictible Roto Start System for easy starting. A tall cast alum heatsink head keeps it cool and running smoothly - under load. This engine is known for it’s mid range power and top end speed.

What distinguishes the HPI MT2 from the field of stadium trucks is 4WD. Giving you increased traction on all surfaces. Dramatically improved handling. Plus maximum grip lets the MT2 take on the roughest conditions without breaking a sweat.

But while 4WD gives it also takes. Yeah there’s a trade off with those 4WD benefits. The MT2 is little more effort to work on due to the 4WD.

Still the same points are repeated over and over again…
• HPI is a good company that offers first class support.

• The MT2 is easier to tune and with the roto start easier to start. Plus HPIs are easy to learn on.

• Lots of hop-ups - which are readily available without sending off to Borneo.
Given all that, the HPI MT2 is highly recommended for a beginner nitro. Granted it can't handle the abuse the HPI Savage can. But it comes 100% prebuilt and it has rotostart. Making for a great truck for anyone looking to move into nitro.
