Review HPI RS4 3 EVO

Not much beats nitro realism, right? Sounds real. Smells real. But…for some nitro realism requires a tad more skill than they've got to put together a box of parts. Leaving the fun of running nitro just out of reach.

Well, HPI has come out with a solution to let more in on the fun. A new member of their family of ready-to-run nitro rc cars - the HPI RS4 3 Evo.

They've taken a proven platform, the nitro RS4 3, and produced an all new and improved version.
But HPI didn't stop there. The RS4 Evo was designed with the beginner or intermediate nitro touring rc car driver in mind. The idea behind it was to make it so super simple to operate NITRO noobs (my apologies) or those with little nitro experience could get onto the track faster and with less hassle.

With that in mind the RS4 Evo package includes such ease-of-use features as
...the Roto Start System. Which solves the biggest problem with nitro cars. Starting 'em. With the Roto Start System starting is as easy as 1-2-3.
One - Attach the glow plug igniter.
Two - Attach the Roto Start.
Three - Hit the button and go!
No endlessly yanking a starting chord for RS4 Evo owners - hoping the engine will kick over.

…went with shaft not belt drive. That means no worrying about belts stretching, breaking or getting gummed up with pebbles or other debris.

…keeping with the keep-it-easy theme the tires also come preglued. And to make sure you look good (as you can see) they’re on flashy chrome plated Split 6 wheels!

…full-time 4WD makes it easier to stay on the road. Given that 4WD gives added stability.

…then there's the T-15 engine. It’s set up to produce more mid-range power and top end speed! Add to that the 2 speed tranny and top end speeds get even more boost. Imagine hearing the car, your car, actually shift. Even on the sidelines you can almost feel the acceleration.

…plus you get a more than adequate electronics package. The HPI TX-2 radio, receiver and servos are sturdy and reliable.
So given the creature comforts packaged in, the HPI RS4 3 Evo looks like a good choice. Especially for those who want to get into nitro without diving off the deep end. If not there’s nothing wrong with going or sticking with electric.
